The second word may be Eachjen or Gachjen. I think it is what you mentioned - a factory copy of a Jacob Hoffner possibly. Needs the nut replaced - am anxious to string up but have to wait for nut. The inside back seems very smooth but the varnish over purfling looks like the turn of century violins i've seen. I put violin polish on it and it made the varnish look a lot more durable and it also looks cleaner - looks much better than e-bay picture now - all the scratches are invisible - like a extremely nice old violin now. The varnish has not had polish put on it in a very long time and was letting looose in a few small spots. The violin age is a little harder than average for me to date. The label is printed text looks like turn of the century by the hand witten numbert looks fairley modern. The neck just comes into the violin as if you just did not put in the little neck block.
